However, we get the occasional message that there are problems with downloading and viewing these files. This page is designed to help with this kind of problem.

There are several things you need to consider to solve this problem.

1. Make sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer, and that all pdf files are associated with it.
2. It's important to remember that many of our Acrobat files are LARGE, in some cases larger than 100 MB in size. If you have a slow network connection, these may be difficult to load.
3. Sometimes the web server can be down or running slow. Best way to deal with this is to check back later.
4. Another problem--especially for computers with Microsoft Windows--is that Adobe has worked hard for "seamless integration" of Acrobat Reader with web browsers such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. Sometimes, though, the integration is a little too seamless, resulting in the downloaded file not displaying, crashing the browser or crashing the computer.

The simplest way to work around this last problem is as follows:

1. Right click on the link (Mac users need to control click.)
2. When prompted, download the file to a location on your computer, such as My Documents or the Desktop.
3. Open the file in Acrobat or just double click it.

Firefox users: I think the default option on this is to download the file and then open it either manually or automatically, which eliminates this problem.
